How will life expectancy change in the coming decades? What diseases will be the main threats of the 21st century? And is it true that we can already predict which viruses will emerge in the future?
About this, Honorary Doctor of the St. Petersburg Humanitarian University of Trade Unions, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Valery Aleksandrovich Chereshnev spoke to students during the lecture "Diseases of the 21st Century: From Coronavirus to Prions." The discussion covered not only modern healthcare challenges but also forecasts for the future – from global population aging to the role of ecology in spreading new infections.
Together with the guest, students discuss how science fights new threats, what habits help live longer, and why future medicine will focus not only on treatment but also on prevention.
